Saturday, September 15th - the 2nd Annual Valley Catholic High School’s College Fair -
hosted by La Reina, Louisville, Crespi, Notre Dame, Alemany and Chaminade. The fair will take place in the Northridge Center and Grand Salon of the University Student Union at CSUN from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Please note that the College Fair will be open from 10:00am to 11:00am for high school seniors and their parents only. The workshop sessions, beginning at 10:00am are open to everyone and will be offered throughout the day. Workshops will be presented on the UC System, the CSU System, Private Schools, Financial Aid, and on the NCAA (for potential college athletes).
All students and/or parents are welcome to attend the fair. We strongly encourage seniors and juniors to attend! This is the only college fair in which 100% of the colleges will be represented by an actual admission counselor/officer.

MOCK SAT TEST - SEPT. 29TH
Each year the Parent Guild sponsors a Mock SAT test. This year the test will be given on Saturday, September 29th in the La Reina Cafeteria at 9:00 a.m. This is your opportunity to experience what it is like to take the SAT and get your scores back in the same day! COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP - JANUARY 11TH
La Reina presents a College Financial Aid Workshop on Wednesday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the LRHS cafeteria. Tammy Velasquez, Financial Aid Counselor from California Lutheran University will be the speaker and will explain the Cal Grant program as well as going step by step through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form for the 2012/2013 school year.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY APPLICATIONS DUE JANUARY 27TH
High School students who are juniors or seniors for the 2011-2012 academic year may apply for membership to the National Honor Society. Applicants must have at least a 3.1 GPA and provide evidence that they meet the four criteria for membership in National Honor Society:
Students who have already applied but have not yet been accepted to the National Honor Society may fill out an NHS Addendum form that will allow them to add information to the application without having to repeat the entire application process. Addendum forms are also available in the information rack in the Administration Building and outside of the College Center and are due to Mrs. La Belle by Friday, January 27th.

COLLEGE CASE STUDIES NIGHT - NOVEMBER 2nd
Don't miss a unique and exciting college information program presented by the San Fernando Valley Catholic high schools - "Case Studies Night". This program will provide a completely different view of college admissions. Students and their parents are brought together with professional admissions staff members from a wide variety of colleges and universities to view actual college applications and experience what it is like to make the decision about whether or not a new student is admitted.
This year the Case Studies program will be held at Louisville High School on Wednesday, November 2nd from 6:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A limited number of spaces are set aside for La Reina, with juniors having priority. STUDENTS, PARENTS INVITED TO SELECTIVE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS NIGHT ON SEPT. 14
La Reina's Guidance Department is pleased to offer a Highly Selective College Admissions Night on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the LRHS cafeteria. All students (both boys and girls) in grades 7 through 12 and their parents are invited. The panel of speakers includes Kirk Brennan, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Southern California, Arun Ponnusamy, College Counselor for Collegewise, and Rob Schwartz, Director of Outreach for The Princeton Review.
