MOCK TRIAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP DVD AVAILABLE
Any La Reina student can check out the DVD of the 2011 California State Championship Mock Trial competition, featuring the first place Regents! The DVD, entitled People v. Woodson, is available in the school library. This film is a great introduction for junior high students who may be interested in joining the Mock Trial Team when they reach high school. Parents or alumnae who wish to borrow this DVD should contact Sr. Lisa Megaffin at lmegaffin@lareina.com.

STUDENTS, PARENTS INVITED TO SELECTIVE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS NIGHT ON SEPT. 14
La Reina's Guidance Department is pleased to offer a Highly Selective College Admissions Night on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the LRHS cafeteria. All students (both boys and girls) in grades 7 through 12 and their parents are invited. The panel of speakers includes Kirk Brennan, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Southern California, Arun Ponnusamy, College Counselor for Collegewise, and Rob Schwartz, Director of Outreach for The Princeton Review. CIRCLE OF FRIENDS MASS
Our first Circle of Friends Mass of the new school year will take place this Thursday, September 1st at 8:15 a.m. in the La Reina Chapel. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. REGENTS EARN ADVANCED PLACEMENT RECOGNITION
Sixty-two students from La Reina High School earned an Advanced Placement Scholar Award for 2011. The AP Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams.
Jillian DeGennaro ’11 and Elly Shao ’12 qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on all AP exams taken and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Twenty-five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
