This Saturday, stop by La Reina and drop off your E-Waste with our Green Team in the lower parking lot between 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. All E-Waste will be accepted, with the exception of batteries and fluroscent light bulbs.
While you are here, visit the upper parking lot and have the Class of 2013 wash your car between 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for a donation of $5.00 The seniors will also be providing treats and cookies for everyone, as they wait for their car to be squeaky clean!

INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
Attention all high school students! If you are looking for an exciting, adventurous, life-changing way to complete your Christian Service hours, you should consider traveling to Guatemala next June! This trip includes 30 hours of service work in an elementary school as well as fabulous daily adventures where you will experience the culture and flavor of Guatemala! For more information on this 14 day trip, come to the informational meeting on Wednesday, August 22nd in room 102 during lunch. A pizza lunch will be provided so get there early!

INTERESTED IN STUDENT COUNCIL? DON'T MISS THIS MEETING!
Students who are interested in leadership at La Reina are encouraged to attend the Service Council Meeting which will be held on Tuesday, August 21, at 2:50pm in room 322. At this meeting, the program will be explained and jobs will be offered.
Eligibility for a Student Council Office:
In order to run for an elected Student Council office, students must demonstrate responsibility by giving service to the school. In return, they earn 1 service point for every hour of service performed.
This service can take many forms. For example, students may earn points by doing homeroom clean up, helping a teacher put up bulletin boards, setting out chairs for liturgies and assemblies or acting as hostesses for various functions that take place at school.
To be eligible for Spring elections, students must have earned the following number of points by the end of the third quarter:
Seventh Graders: 12 points
Eighth Graders: 18 points
9-12 Graders: 24 points

The La Reina Chapter of National Honor Society is open to Juniors and Seniors and applications are now available for fall review.
If you are interested in being considered as a candidate for NHS, complete the application or an addendum to a previously submitted application. Return your application or addendum to Mrs. La Belle no later than Friday, September 7th .
Applications and addendums can be found in the main office information rack and in the information rack outside of the College Center. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. La Belle in the College Center.

APPLY NOW FOR HEIDEL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
La Reina High School is pleased to announce the third Heidel Family Scholarship, to be awarded through the generosity of Mary Heidel, Heidi Heidel '94, and other generous donors. This annual scholarship of $500, applicable to tuition, will be awarded to a student who:

- Has earned the Activity Letter, as described in the Student-Parent Handbook
- Has a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
- Has earned an "A" in Citizenship for all four quarters of the previous school year
- Has completed the application form for the Heidel Family Scholarship by the last Friday in August; this year, the deadline is Friday, August 31.
